Lee Hawkins
Lee Hawkins is a Pulitzer Prize finalist journalist and author, best known for his 19-year tenure at The Wall Street Journal. A 2022 Pulitzer finalist for his reporting on the Tulsa Race Massacre, Hawkins explores the lasting impact of history on modern life. He is the author of I Am Nobody’s Slave: How Uncovering My Family’s History Set Me Free (2025). He also hosts the podcast What Happened in Alabama? and has held fellowships with Marquette University, USC Annenberg Center, and The Carter Center.
